Dress Design expands
In 1953, Kingston School of Art made an application for formal recognition of its growing full-time course in Dress Design. The designated staff responsible for running the course were Miss Cloke, Mr Moon, Miss Dundas, Miss Bickers, and Mr Stirling. In just over a decade, Kingston would be one of the top fashion schools in the country, and prove indicative of the shifts in the conceptualisation and professionalization of the subject. The application on file from 1953 is the start of that process.
