In ‘Original Stools’ by Sascha Mikel, each original stool is the unique product of a process more commonly associated with uniform production, rotation moulding. Stools are rotated within an orb containing a silicon mould into which resin is poured. The orb is released into the landscape — river, forest, hill — and the flexing mould casts a record of the physical journey into the stool. Each original stool has a time and place of origin.
