ArchiveKSA have been collaborating closely with Helen Storey Foundation on projects over the last year; part of this has been an extensive digitisation programme of the archives of Helen Storey and the Foundation. This fruitful creative link between HSF and ArchiveKSA initially sprung up because of Helen’s own experience as a Foundation and a Fashion student at Kingston Polytechnic. The two images from the archive featured here show this connection. The photograph shows Helen and a friend at Knights Park as students. The sketch design is for part of Helen’s final degree show collection: she designed a wedding dress made of the remnants of other recycled dresses, thus foreshadowing her later interests in ecological design, upcycling, and using the dress as a format to address global issues of climate change.
