Barbara Constance Freeman was an art student at Kingston in the 1920s, before developing a successful career as a children’s book illustrator – working on both her own titles and those of authors such as Enid Blyton.
In this etching (a style Kingston was renowned for), Freeman documents the banks of the Hogsmill at a similar point to where Millais’ Ophelia was based upon.
